Newborn found dumped at sea

A female newborn was found floating at the back of Philippine Coast Guard sub-station located at Zone 5, Km. 11, Sasa, around 5:50 a.m. yesterday.

Chief Insp Reuben Libera, the commander of Sasa police precinct, told TIMES yesterday that they immediately deployed a team led by PO1 Perlito Buscagan Jr. to the area after receiving the report.

The team returned to the station at around 6:30 a.m. confirming that the body of the baby was picked up out of the water.

A witness told police that she was preparing for the school for her children when informed by her daughter about a baby floating in the water. She immediately informed the coast guard personnel who retrieved the newborn.

Accordingly, the baby was a female and the cut of the umbilical cord was still fresh.

The remains of the baby were brought to Rivera Funeral Homes at Km. 12, Sasa while the police are trying to locate the mother of the child to determine criminal culpability.
