Neri given an ’11′ rating by Mayor Sara instead of ’10′

MAYOR Sara Duterte-Carpio  rated Col. Erwin Bernard Neri as the top performing commander as there was no terror attack that occurred during his assignment as the chief of the Task Force Davao.

“Col. Neri you are at 10 but this is the first time Atty. Zuleika Lopez (city administrator) attended a turnover  so you are an 11,” she further said.

The chief executive said that every time there’s a change in command, the media will always ask her to rate the outgoing commander. “Just to answer the question I say 9 or 10, then I stopped giving rating to the commander because I don’t have any standard,” she said.

“I thought  it was unfair to give a rating that I don’t have a standard for a commander but maybe it will always be a rate of 10 for a commander  if there’s no bombing incident that happened (during his command) because TF Davao was created  after the twin bombings in Sasa port and airport,” she added.

The city mayor said Col. Neri was the highest rated Task Force Davao commander.

“I would like you to know Col. Neri that you are the Task Force Davao commander closest to my heart,” the mayor said, adding that “I will always remember you because of Stonefish.”

In August last year, Mayor Sara announced that she was pregnant with triplets. But she lost two babies over stress after the blast at the Roxas night market in September of 2016. In fact, during the christening of her third child, she thought about asking Neri to be the godfather.

“But I thought that would gave a color to his service in the AFP, that’s why I did not get you as ninong,” the mayor said. “But now consider yourself as a ninong to Stonefish.”

During his speech yesterday, Neri thanked the local government of Davao and the security counterparts, stakeholders and private entities in supporting him during his command.

On Tuesday, Neri already assumed as the commander 1001st Infantry Brigade based in Barangay Mapaang, Maco, Compostela Valley, replacing Brig. Gen. Macairog Alberto who is now the chief of Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (ISAFP).

Neri was a member of Philippine Military Academy (PMA) class 1988. He was designated as the chief of staff of the Eastern Mindanao Command (EastMinCom) before he assumed as TF Davao commander last September 2016.
