NCCC to open branch in Mati this month: execs

HOMEGROWN retail operator LTS Retail Specialists Inc., the company behind the New Commercial Complex Center (NCCC) brand, is set to open a new branch in Mati City, its second branch in Davao Oriental.

The 2,198-square meter branch, which opens within the month, will house two of the company’s stores, the Supermarket and the Hardwaremaxx, the company’s hardware store, said Tjader P. Regis, company senior vice president.

“Mati population maybe small, but there are a lot of tourists. It is also a replenishment destination of areas as far as Maragusan in Compostela Valley and other neighboring towns,” Regis told the TIMES, adding that the company is looking at the cashing in on the city’s potentials as a go-to place for supermarket customers and those looking for hardware needs in either starting or renovating their homes.

He said the company, when it decided to locate in the city, which is about four hours from Davao City by land, is envisioning itself to become part of the community that as it grow its businesses, the community grows with it economically.

“Mati is a growing area,” Regis told the TIMES, pointing out that he personally visualizes the city into a summer capital of the Davao Region, it being a location of a very lengthy shoreline popular among tourists.

The Supermarket that the company is opening is the 60th for the company, while Hardwaremaxx is the 18th for the brand. The company opened its first branch in the province in Lupon about a year ago.

He said one advantage of the city is that the growth of its tourism industry has started that travelers, local and otherwise, have started taking notice.

He said another good thing is that the city has still huge area where one can set up businesses as there have been new businesses like that of his company.

“We are not the only one investing in Mati, there are a few others that I am aware of,” he said, pointing out that these new investments will help fuel the growth of the city.

“If you can combine the efforts of these businesses that see the opportunities, you will see the boom (in the city’s economy),” he added.

On the hardware business, Adel O. Lalang, Hardwaremaxx head for the area where Mati City is part of, said that the entry of the brand in the hardware business of the city will provide customers of choices that others cannot provide.

Lalang noted that unlike other hardware stores in the city which are counter-based, or customers only make their others through the country, they can touch the products physically. “What the brand is offering is not just hardware products, but all other products, pet shop products and even appliances,” Lalang added.
