NBI XI traces source of fake Ombudman decisions

THE NATIONAL Bureau of Investigation (NBI XI) has already traced the source of the fabricated Ombudsman decisions that were distributed during the 2016 elections.

But Lawyer Ma. Faith Presbitero, spokesperson of the Office of the Ombudsman Mindanao (OMB-Min), said they could not yet divulge the identity of those responsible behind the proliferation of the fake documents as the investigation is still on-going.

Presbitero earlier said that those behind the fake documents are criminally liable and also would be facing administrative case if they are government officials.

In May, two orders purportedly issued by the Ombudsman were distributed days after the May 9 elections.

The Ombudsman got hold of the alleged decisions when someone left copies at their office.

It was then learned that the documents were fabricated.

The alleged Ombudsman rulings were about the grave misconduct and dishonesty case filed against Valencia City Mayor Azucena Huervas of Bukidnon, and the graft charges against the town councilors, treasurer, budget officer and social welfare officer of Matanao, Davao del Sur.

A one-page order allegedly signed by Mindanao Deputy Ombudsman Rodolfo Elman ordered for the six-month suspension and the filing of criminal case against Huervas.

The other order, a decision purportedly signed by Chief Ombudsman Conchita Morales, is for the dismissal from the service of all the town councilors, treasurer, budget officer and social welfare officer of Matanao.
