Multi-awarded Gary David visits Magpet

ON June 06,2017, the municipality of Magpet in North Cotabato was fortunate enough to have been chosen as the venue for Gary David’s basketball clinic. David also known as El Granada, is a veteran swingman currently playing for PBA’s Mahindra Floodbuster. Before his current stint with Mahindra, he has played for several teams namely San Miguel Beermen, Meralco Bolts, GlobalPort Batang Pier, Coca-Cola Tigers and Air21 Express. Gary David has donned the national uniform when he was chosen to be a member of the team that represented the country during the 2003 Southeast Asian Games. He was also part of Gilas2.0 that competed in several international tournaments, including the 2014 World Championships. He is widely-hailed as one of the all-time top scorers in the league and co-holds the record for longest number of consecutive games recording 20 points or more.

The basketball clinic is part of Sitio Maupot Family Resort’s way of giving back to the community. The management of the resort worked hand in hand with the municipal and baranggay officials of Magpet to bring Gary David to Magpet. There were around 150 basketball-hopefuls who joined the clinic. David taught them the basics and showed them how to execute the moves properly. He reiterated that he will never be selfish in sharing with the kids his knowledge about basketball. At the end of the basketball clinic, David gave out signed basketballs.

After the event, Gary David went on an Ecotour in the nearby falls using a 400CC All Terrain Vehicle provided for by the resort. David, with a group of local ATV enthusiasts went to Kirongdong Falls, the tallest waterfall in the Province of North Cotabato.  He said it was his first time to see a waterfall. He was mesmerized by the natural beauty of Magpet, including a view of the majestic Mt. Apo. He vowed to come back for another basketball clinic and to see more of Magpet.
