MINDANAO-made movies are in this week’s Mindanao Film Festival.

Also to open on Wednesday are Japan’s hit Your Lie in April, comedy Office Christmas Party, news drama The Truth and horror All Hallows’ Evil.


A total of 61 locally-made films will be shown during the film festival, touted as the longest-running regional film festival in the country.

The opening film of the festival will be the full-length movie “Baboy Halas” (Wild Boar) which was shot in the forests of Marilog District. The movie was awarded Jury Prize by the Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema (NETPAC) and Best Artistic Contribution for Cinematography during the 2016 QCinema.

Aside from Baboy Halas, another distinguished film from Mindanao will be shown during the festival, the 2016 Busan International Film Festival best documentary award (Mecenat) recipient, the documenatary film “Crescent Rising” helmed by Sheron Dayoc from Zamboanga will also be shown.

Kaori Miyazono plays the violin and has a free spirit. Since meeting her, Kosei Arima is able to face the piano again. Meanwhile, Kaori holds a secret.

Based on the popular Japanese manga series Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso that also became a hit anime television series.

While watching two children on Halloween night, a babysitter finds an old VHS tape in the kids’ trick or treat bag. The tape features three tales of terror, all linked together by a murderous clown. As the night goes on strange things begin to occur in the house. It isn’t long before the babysitter learns the horrifying truth… the maniacal clown is slowly working his way into her reality.
