Motorcyle-riding armed men shoot PUJ passenger

A 25-year-old man was gunned down by two unidentified armed men while he was on board a public utility jeepney along McArthur highway, in Matina around 7:35 a.m.

Sr. Insp Maria Teresita Gaspan, spokesperson of Davao City Police Office (DCPO) identified the fatality as Jomart Colina Poral, resident of Purok 14 Ulas, Barangay Talomo.

According to the report, the victim was onboard a PUJ bearing plate no. lwf 620 coming from Toril heading to the downtown area. Two unidentified men onboard a motorcycle shot the victim five times hitting him on the head and body.

Gaspan said based on the investigation conducted by the Talomo police precinct, the victim had a police record.

“He was involved in a series of robbery and theft cases,” Gaspan told reporters at the AFP-PNP Press briefing held at The Royal Mandaya hotel.

“According to the precinct commander, he was also involved in a previous stabbing incident but the complainant did not pursue filing a case,” she added.

She said the motive could be personal.

She also said that this is the first shooting incident that happened in the city this year was perpetrated by motorcycle-riding armed men.

The Talomo police precinct led by Chief Insp Ronald Lao, is still conducting a follow up investigation on the incident.
