Mayor signs EO on LCC

MAYOR Sara Duterte signed an executive order reconstituting the City Literacy Coordinating Council with the passing of RA 10122, which amended RA 7165, or the Act Creating the Literacy Coordinating Council.

Executive Order No. 19 adopts measures provided by RA 10122 making literacy a high priority in the city.

The policy further declares to eliminate illiteracy within barangays through the creation of the Local Literacy Coordinating Council. The EO further provides that the city government shall support all plans, programs, and activities to a 100% literacy rate in the city.

The City Literacy Coordinating Council will be headed by Mayor Sara Duterte and Dr. Maria Ines Asuncion, Department of Education Schools Division superintendent.

Councilor Pilar Braga, chairperson on committee on education, is also a member of the council.

The council will get support from the annual or supplemental budget of the city, and the Office of the City Mayor.

The EO was signed last July 18.
