Mayor Sara creates body to solve traffic woes

MAYOR Sara Duterte-Carpio has created a committee to enhance the transportation and traffic situation in the city.

Executive Order No. 27, or an order creating the Davao City Transportation and Traffic Planning Committee (TTPC), was signed last June 23.

The TTPC is tasked to harmonize and organize plans for development, road usage, pedestrian facilities, public and private transportation, and traffic planning in the city.

The committee shall harmonize all plans, proposals, and studies on the development of Davao City, and formulate strategies to ensure a holistic and efficient planning and programming of initiatives addressing transportation and traffic issues.

The plans and programs would then be consulted with private and public-sector partners.

The Office of the City Administrator, meanwhile, was tasked to convene the TTPC, as its convenor.

The department heads of the City Planning and Development Office and City Transport and Traffic Management Office shall identify personnel from their respective offices who shall serve as the TTPC secretariat who shall be tasked to handle its administrative or secretarial functions.

The committee shall comprise the city mayor and vice mayor as chair and vice chair, respectively. The CPDO head will act as the head of the secretariat.

The members of the committee are representatives from the City Council committees on transportation and public works and highways; the assistant city administrators for administration and operations; representatives from the City Legal Office, CPDO, City Engineer’s Office, CTTMO, Mindanao Development Authority, Department of Transportation, Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc., Integrated Bar of the Philippines, transport groups, as well as technical advisers of the city government and the regional offices of the Department of Public Works and Highways, National Economic and Development Authority, Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board, and Land Transportation Office.
