Manager sued for P1M theft

THE CITY Prosecution Office has charged a store manager for stealing more than P1 million from the store he supposed to manage.

Prosecutor found probable cause to charge Lianzeng Cai for qualified theft.

Gerald Cruz, owner of KSM Kim Sheng RTW and Fashion Accessories, filed the case against Cai.

Cruz, in his complaint, said that he was informed by his subordinates that the respondent did not deposit in the bank the sales of the store on May 1.

When the complainant inspected the passbook of the store, he noticed that Cai did not deposit a total sales of P1,149,578 from April 22 to April 29.

Cruz also discovered that the store’s petty cash amounting to P51,513 was also missing.

Cai, Cruz said, admitted taking the money during their confronted.

Prosecutor Joseph Mamburam said the Cai took advantage of his being the manager of the store when he stole the money.

Mamburam also recommended that the respondents be indicted for the April 22 to 29 taking as well as the taking of the petty cash.
