Mall to be built in Tugbok

A PROPERTY developer is a step closer to constructing a mall in Brgy. Sto. Nino, Tugbok.

Communities Davao, a subsidiary of Vista Land and Lifescapes of former senator Manuel B. Villar, is seeking for the preliminary approval and locational clearance (PALC) and development permits (DP) for its mall, which will be set up on a three-hectare property.

The city council subcommittee on housing, rural, and urban development for high end projects approved the project as the city council plenary approved it on second reading.

Engr. Mario Santos, Jr., senior manager of Communities Davao, Inc., represented the developer in the committee hearings starting June this year.

According to a copy of the committee report, the project, which will have 22% of its 2.6-hectare set aside for parking area is under a major commercial zone and water resource zone.

The Davao City Water District, meanwhile, certified that it could provide water for the facility.

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau under the Department of Environment and Natural Resources XI also released a certification for the project, provided that it implements mitigating measures to prevent the contamination of groundwater.

The Vista Mall project is the company’s first mall project in the city and is part of its 15-hectare real property project.

Proponents of the project said it would have three stories, as well as adequate parking space for future.
