Malita police chief sued for grave threat, physical injury

AUTHORITIES already filed a case on Monday afternoon against a deputy police station commander in Davao Occidental who was accused of punching a man and firing his gun at 10:20 p.m. in Purok 3, Km. 11, Barangay Catalunan Pequeno, Talomo District on Saturday.

Chief Insp. Ronald Lao, the precinct commander of the Talomo police, said that three counts of grave threats and physical injury case was filed on Monday afternoon against Sr. Insp. Nathaniel S. Millado, 37, the deputy police commander of Malita, the capital town of Davao Occidental.

Lao said they are still waiting on the resolution of the City Prosecutor’s office if they could include the indiscriminate firing and alarm and scandal case to be filed against Millado.

Millado, a resident of Km. 12 in the said barangay, was accused of harassing a group of men, identified as Andres Sibumpan Sialana, Peter Perez Sahot and Eric Respondo Gapol, all residents of Purok 3 in Km. 11.

According to the report, the complainants were drinking liquor along the road when Millado passed by on board a motorcycle at around 8:40 p.m. He alighted from his vehicle and a confrontation between him and Sialana erupted.

The cause of the misunderstanding was not revealed.

The police officer allegedly punched Sialana and pulled out a handgun. He reportedly fired it once.

Millado left the place and went to the Talomo Police Precinct to report the incident.

While at the station, the complainants arrived and positively identified Millado as the assailant. This prompted the police officer to hold Millado in custody.

Recovered from Millado’s possession was a government-issued firearm, a Taurus 9mm caliber pistol with serial number TCW37913 loaded with one magazine with 11 live ammo.

Also endorsed to the Talomo Police Station by the complainants was one fired cartridge case of 9mm caliber.

The suspect was then brought to the Regional Crime Laboratory XI for the paraffin test.

Lao said Millado confessed to firing his gun but he claimed that it was only through self-defense because the group was ganging up on him.
