Lawmakers approve P1.2b SB 1

The City Council approved on suspended rules on Tuesday the first supplemental budget (SB1) for this year amounting to 1.2 billion.

Based on the approved resolution of the SB1, the bulk of the appropriations was lodged under the General Fund proper in the total amount of P848,889,364.143, which is equivalent to 70% of the total appropriation.

Part of this will be for the salary differential and other personnel benefits adjustment of the officials and employees due to the implementation of the third tranche of the salary schedule.

The second bulk of appropriation or the 28% is under the Development Fund in the total amount of P336,305,018.45 (P150,770,232.45 for non-infrastructure projects and P185,535,018 for infrastructure projects).

The remaining P21,487,313.35 or 2% of the appropriation is for Economic Enterprises allotted for the operations of the markets, slaughterhouse, cemeteries, Davao City Recreation Center, Magsaysay Park, and the Pasalubong Center.

The SB was proposed by Councilor Danilo Dayanghirang, chair on the committee of finance, ways, and means and appropriations.

The SB1 was sourced out mainly from the surplus from last year’s operations in the total amount P702,824,191.63, followed by the various reversions of appropriations amounting to P423,836,211.02.

The third source of fund in the SB is the unappropriated balance of Annual Budget 2018 in the amount of P155,816,153.

Following the unappropriated balance is the 15% share of collection from the Office of Building Official of P4,979,718.17.
