Indian sued for extorting Indian

A 42-YEAR-OLD Indian national is facing a criminal case before the Office of the City Prosecutor for extorting a fellow Indian national.

Kumar Sandeep, a transient resident of Capitol Poblacion, Tagum City, Davao del Norte, is sued for extortion.

The respondent is now temporarily held at Sta. Ana Police Precinct while waiting for his case to be resolved.

The case stemmed from the complaint filed by Kumar Arun, 38, a resident of Cory Village in Brgy. Gov Ponciano Bangoy, Agdao District, who claimed that Sandeep demanded P50,000 in exchange for the safety of his family.

After Arun filed a police complaint, operatives conducted an entrapment operation that resulted to the arrest of the respondent.

Sandeep was arrested at 4:45 p.m. on Dec. 27, 2017, along Don Julian Rodriguez Avenue, fronting the burned NCCC Mall, after one of the operatives saw Arun giving a white envelope containing the marked money – one piece of genuine P1, 000 and boodle money.

During the arrest, the operatives conducted a body frisk. The white envelope was found in the right pocket of the suspect’s blue pants.

A cellular phone and a motorcycle were also confiscated from the possession of Sandeep.

The confiscated items, currently placed under the custody of Sta. Ana Police, will be later used as evidence in court.
