‘Gunrunners’ arrested

FOUR ALLEGED gunrunners were arrested by authorities during a joint checkpoint conducted at Barangay P.M. Sobrecarey, Caraga town, Davao Oriental on Sunday morning.

Chief Insp. Milgrace Driz, head of Criminal investigation and Detection Team (CIDT) Davao Oriental, identified the suspects as Dante Ato Moro, 45; Amerel Pacio Palinggi, 35; Jamal Ceferino Mapada , 44 and Orlan Mapada, 45, all were residents of Barangay Tagabakid, Mati City.

Confiscated from their possession were a .45 caliber pistol; Norinco high-capacity .45 caliber pistol with one magazine with six live cartridges;and two hi-cap magazine with 11 live cartridges.

According to the report, the Caraga Municipal Police Station received a phone call from an informant regarding four “suspicious-looking” persons on board a red Toyota Hi-Ace vehicle bearing plate number WFG 450.

The report said the men were looking for Tagabakid Barangay Captain Lourdelyn Matilac.

Immediately upon receiving the information, Caraga PNP personnel, CIDT Davao Oriental and members of the 67th Infantry Battalion proceeded to the area. The suspects are now detained in the detention facility of Caraga Municipal Police Station.
