Girl, 18, nabbed in buy-bust

A FEMALE teenager was nabbed by agents of Davao del Norte Provincial Drug Enforcement Office for allegedly selling 10 grams of shabu in a buy-bust conducted on Nov. 13 at   7:10   p.m. at Purok   6, Barangay Ising, Carmen in Davao del Norte.

The suspect was identified as Judie Oquias Sugatan, 18, and a resident   of   Purok   4,   Barangay   Sta.   Maria,   Nabunturan,   Compostela   Valley.

Sugatan was arrested by a PDEA agent who acted as poseur-buyer who purchased about 10 grams of shabu with a street value of P 120,000. The Nokia cellular phone and the marked money were also recovered from her possession.

Sugatan is now detained at Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency RegionalOffice XI detention facility, while the seized suspected illegal drugs were submitted to the Laboratory Service for qualitative and quantitative examination.

A case for violation of Sec.   5, Art. II of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) is being prepared against her.

In an interview yesterday, Nephi Noli Dimaandal, PDEA XI spokesperson, said the suspect has been a subject of surveillance for some time now.

“Actually his boyfriend was already arrested in February this year,” Dimaandal said. “When she was a minor, she was used by her boyfriend before as drug courier.”

He said the two perfected a modus where they ride a bus together but pretend they don’t know each other. When they arrive at their destination, they meet up to distribute the drugs.

Meanwhile, based on the records of PDEA XI, 42 suspects were already arrested in 39 operations since Oct. 10. They were able to seize 55.91 grams of shabu, 35 grams of marijuana and five grams of pseudo epidrin with a total estimated value of P900,000.

Dimaandala said the market value of shabu per gram ranges from P12,000 to 15,000.
