Girl, 16, nabbed for carnapping

A 16-YEAR-OLD girl was arrested by Sasa police officers for allegedly stealing money from a house of a businessman and carting the victim’s vehicle in a follow-up operation around 11 p.m. Friday.

Sr. Insp. Noel Villahermosa, the precinct commander, told TIMES yesterday, said Chuchay broke and entered into the compound of businessman David Tumutod at Vista Verde Subdivision in Barangay Panacan, Bunawan district around 1 a.m. last Wednesday.

The suspect allegedly took P5,100, said to be owned by Tumutod’s daughter, before carting the complainant’s Ford Everest.

On Friday, Villahermosa said they received reports that Chuchay was seen playing skateboard with some friends in San Pedro Street.

Thus, Sasa police personnel, together with Women and Children’ s Desk, immediately conducted the operation that led to the arrest of the suspect, a Grade 10 student who resides in Purok 35, Davao Empress in Barangay Panacan.

Police recovered the color black vehicle with plate number AAG 8760.

Tumutod positively identified his vehicle.

“Trip lang niya (it was only for the thrill),” Villahermosa said on the girl’s motive in breaking and entering in the victim’s house.

According to the report, the girl gained entry by jumping over the front gate of the compound. Inside the house, she was able to get the car key and the cash.

Chuchay was already turned over to the Women and Children’s Desk as police are set to file robbery and carnapping charges today.
