“I’m just a simple guy from a simple town in a simple family with simple dreams. I was raised inclined to the arts but practicality and economic circumstances put me on a detour and made me a seaman. But don’t let that fool you. I’m not rich. I still eat dried fish. Kidding aside, the detour brought me many experiences and challenges that made me stronger than who I was before. I realized that there’s a paradigm shift to go through when one goes abroad. In all seriousness, emotions and the battles of the psyche do get magnified when you are away from your loved ones. That is what I am trying to reflect on with my current and future artworks,” shared the Guhit Pinas Davao member from Mawab, Compostela Valley,” he said.

The single Gen Z’er does not have a certain pattern when drawing but lets things flow naturally from doodling. His shortest time on making art is five minutes and the longest time took one week. Marion has been drawing since kindergarten and considers his father and grandfather as his role model artists.

“My mother encouraged me a lot in art,” Mr. Helicame said.

Nicknamed “Ateng,” the seafaring artist believes. “The mind is everything. What you think, you become.”
