Freeze | Jalaika Mikka Paz Young Artist from Digos

THE LATE motivational speaker Emmanuel James “Jim” Rohn said we are the average of the five people that we spend our time with. Jim Rohn must have echoed an old Spanish proverb that goes, “Tell me who your friends are and I’ll tell you who you are.”

A smart person surrounds himself with other smart people. If you hang out with trash, you will be perceived as trash. The company you keep reflects your personality. Some call it personality osmosis. Like it or not, we tend to imitate behaviors and interests of people around us.1a

Seventeen-year old Jalaika Sadangsal Mikka Paz from Digos City stumbled upon calligraphy in December 2016. After a year of designing letters, Jai moved on to explore portraiture. Somewhat frustrated with the time-consuming demands of making portraits, she decided to focus more on calligraphy. Then she learned about the art group called Guhit Pinas Davao. She joined the group and felt amazed by the artworks of its members.

The student from the University of Mindanao Digos College is inspired by Guhit Pinas Davao to continue honing her skills. Jalaika Mikka Paz is relatively a newbie but she has shown potentials of becoming a very good artist.

With other artist friends to support her, Jai is on her way to blossom.
