Umali had his share of winning and losing in those competitions that must have helped him hone his skills.

He has no idea where he got his talent because nobody among his relatives is into visual arts. Blessed with a powerful imagination, he improved his stick figure drawing skills through constant practice and discovered through Guhit Pinas different art media. He tried pastel, paint, and charcoal but he is more at ease with pencil and watercolor.

Eduardo Umali likes to draw unusual images of combined beasts and humans like mythical creatures that symbolize struggles. But he understands that the beholder may have a different interpretation of his works. This promising young artist believes in Albert Einstein’s words that “Imagination is more important than knowledge” because imagination has no limits.
