Freeze | Davao-based Band THEA Now on Mainstream Music Scene

CONGRATULATION  to Julie Thea Pitogo and her mates in THEA Band for landing a contract with MCA Music/Universal Music Philippines. With keyboard player Darryl Tingzon, guitarist and second vocalist Ronald Tubio, bass player Paul Jaso, and drummer Jasfer Pala, the ukulele expert recently graced several top pop music stations in Manila to spread the good news.Thea Pitogo is one of the most popular uke players in DU30’s home city. What makes this young lady stand out are her unique voice, original songs, and grit.1g

THEA has been making waves in the indie scene since 2014 with its Love More extended play (EP) record and a follow up The Wise and the Wiser in 2015. The band regularly shows up in local music events.

The THEA sound is not the usual kind of OPM with predictable lyrics and arrangement. It belongs to a league of its own.

Julie Thea Pitogo admires the music of Davaoeña Anne Mendoza, CJ Sagarino, Jad Montenegro, Ramon Toh, and Escape Plan Juliet, among others.

THEA’s foray into the mainstream music scene may present new challenges to the band but their talents, passion, and commitment to promote Davao music to the world should help them earn more success on a wider scale.

Keep up the good work, THEA. The local ukulele community is proud of you.1f
