Free Trade Zone in Davao Occidental

MALITA, Davao Occidental – A 2,000 hectare industrial park will soon rise in Malita, Davao Occidental.

 The Davao Occidental Marina and Industrial Park, located in Barangay Buhangin, Tubalan in Malita, the capital town of Davao Occidental, was designated by the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) as an economic free trade zone.

 A groundbreaking ceremony will be held on Oct. 27, 2017 and will be attended by Charito Plaza Director General of PEZA, Provincial Governor Claude Bautista, Vice Governor Atty. Franklin P. Bautista, and Congresswoman Lorna B. Bandigan and partners of Pionaire Finance Limited, a company based in Hong Kong which is also a major partner of the province in the project.

 Pionaire Finance Limited led by Asilan Jaku, Chairman and CEO initiated the said project.

 The industrial park is estimated to be a $25-billion project which will include the construction and commissioning of a 12,000 megawatt Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) combined cycle power plant, chemical industrial park, water-gen manufacturing facility, LPG & storage terminal, 20 million metric-ton refinery, a petrochemical complex and an international port.

 The project will serve as an engine for the economic growth of Davao Occidental and its neighboring areas, in light with President Rodrigo Duterte’s Build, Build, Build economic agenda. (PIA/RG Alama)
