Ex-captain killed

A FORMER barangay captain who chaired the Rovers Philippines was shot to death by still unidentified riding-in-tandem assailants in Sitio Ramihan, Barangay Bato, Toril District at 1:44 p.m. on Saturday.

Sr. Supt. Alexander Tagum, Davao City Police Office (DCPO) director, identified the victim as Roger “Atoy” Limso, a former barangay captain and kagawad of Barangay Bato.

Tagum said Limso was shot by two motorcycle-riding assailants in front of his house.

The victim was brought to Malta Hospital in Toril but he was declared dead by the attending physician an hour later. He sustained gunshot wound in his forehead.

Chief Insp. Jerome De Guzman, the Toril Police Precinct commander, said they could not yet establish any motive but they are looking into two possible angles.

De Guzman, however, refused to divulge the angles.

Days prior to his murder, Limso reportedly testified in a court hearing for an unspecified case in Cagayan de Oro City.

A member of the prominent Limso family in the city, the victim was an active scouting leader and sports-event organizer.

Both the Boy Scouts of the Philippines and the Rover Order of Saint George expressed condolence to the Limso family.

“You are now with God the Father Sir Roger “Atoy” Limso and sitting with the great founder Baden Powell. Your loss is also a great loss to the entire scouting movement, a true selfless, humble and humorous volunteer. The Rovers Philippines lost not only a Chairman but also a strong foundation of the organization. We will seek justice for your unacceptable and horrific death…,” scouting brother Jared Jarligo Eder posted on his Facebok account with the hashtag
