Event to highlight region as biz hub

THE TWO-DAY Davao Investment Conference (ICon) will highlight the region as prime hub for business ventures.

John Tria, Davao ICon program committee chair, said yesterday in Kapehan sa Dabaw at SM City Davao-Annex that this will set the tone that the region is fit for investments.

The event, led by Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (DCCCII) in partnership with the city government, will focus especially on encouraging investors of agriculture, manufacturing, tourism and infrastructure to make it as their hub for expansion.

Tria said the British Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc., for instance, will provide a statement of support. “Definitely, the key message here is that Davao Region is a prime area for investments,” he said.

The region, he said, has vast opportunities in United Kingdom.

The Davao ICon will also be attended by other foreign chambers and local business groups. The micro, small and medium enterprises are also welcome to join in the conference.

President Rodrigo Duterte and members of his Cabinet arecommitted to attend the event. AirAsia’s chief executive officer Tony Fernandes will also serve as among the speakers, who would tackle on air connectivity.

Arturo Milan, trustee of DCCCII, said they are highlighting especially on the need to have investments on agriculture, tourism, manufacturing and infrastructure to have balanced development in the region.

“This is a good opportunity to showcase Davao Region,” Milan said.
