EastMinCom has new chief

MAJ. GEN. Benjamin Madrigal will assume tomorrow as the new chief of the Eastern Mindanao Command (EastMinCom).

Gen. Rey Leonardo Guerrero, the chief of staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), told TIMES yesterday that Madrigal will be the next EastMinCom chief.

“Yes, Gen. Madrigal will be replacing me as the new commander of the Eastern Mindanao,” Guerrero said.

A change of command ceremony will be conducted tomorrow to formally turn over the leadership to be held at the Naval Station Felix Apolinario, Camp Panacan.

Madrigal is previously assigned as the chief of Southern Luzon Command (SolCom) last Aug. 18. He was the former commander of 4th Infantry Division based in Camp Evangelista, Cagayan de Oro City.

He is a member of Philippine Military Class 1985 together with Maj. Gen. Noel Clement, the 10th Infantry Division Commander, Maj. Gen. Ronald Villanueva, the 4th Infantry Division commander, Maj. Gen. Arnel Dela Vega, the 6th Infantry Division commander and Lt. Gen. Rolando Joselito Bautista, the commanding general of the Philippine Army (CGPA).

He was previously assigned as the 701st Infantry Brigade commander based in Mati, Davao Oriental. He also served as the assistant division commander and acting division commander of 10th ID before he became the 4th ID chief in Cagayan de Oro City.
