DSWD ‘Listahan’ aimed to be completed by December

THE DEPARTMENT of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is rushing to complete the updated list of the neediest families by December this year for inclusion in different programs.

Mae Valentin, DSWD Listahan regional coordinator, said their office is finalizing the second assessment of screened families across areas in Davao Region.

“We have to finalize the consolidation because there were areas in Davao Occidental included in Davao del Sur,” she said in an interview at the sidelines of Kapihan sa SM forum.

According to their data, as of Sept. 28, there was a total of 784,502 households in the region assessed for inclusion in the DSWD’s various programs, most notable of which is the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program.

The assessment and listing of the households is mandated under Executive Order 867 or the National Household Targeting System for poverty reduction as a mechanism for identifying poor households who will be recipients of social protection programs nationwide.

In the country, a total of 14,118,002 households have been assessed as of yesterday.

Peter Villaluna, Listahan regional information officer, said once the consolidation of the assessments is completed, the figures will undergo a ‘prop and means’ test to determine the poorest of the poor and most in need of the social services and assistance.

Meanwhile, the DSWD-XI will observe the national 2015 Pantawid Pamilya National Family Day on Sunday, Oct. 4, at Magsaysay Park.

Intended to celebrate the family unit, the celebration is seen to gather 5,000 from different areas of the region and Compostela Valley, as well as to recognize the winners of the Huwarang Pamilya 2015 Regional Search.
