‘Drug user’ charged for paraphernalia

THE OFFICE of the City Prosecutor found probable cause to indict a man who was arrested for allegedly possessing illegal drug paraphernalia last Aug. 26.

Welly Ampo Isik will be facing a charge for violation of Sec. 12, Art. 2 of the RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).

Prosecutor Rizalyn Gonzales-Pontanos in a resolution dated Sept. 11 said that at around 5:40 p.m. on Aug. 26, while Cafgu Auxiliary Active (CAA) Jenric Zarate, along with the other personnel of the Philippine National Police (PNP), was conducting a checkpoint in Licanan, Lasang, he saw the suspect trying to avoid inspection.

He then called the suspect who didn’t join the queue. He asked for an ID but when he took his mobile phone from his right pocket, an improvised glass tube tooter containing traces of shabu fell to ground.

When frisked, soldiers found two more pieces of aluminum foils, an improvised needle and a lighter from his possession. The urine sample taken from respondent also tested positive for methamphetamine.

Isik is now under the custody of the Bunawan Police Precinct.
