Drug suspect slain in shootout, 5 nabbed in separate buy-bust

A SUSPECTED drug pusher was killed in a reported shootout with the authorities in Catalunan Pequeno on Monday afternoon.

Meanwhile, another five drug suspects were arrested in separate buy-bust operation conducted by the elements of Sta. Ana Police Precinct in Purok 1, Brgy. 76-A.

Chief Insp. Ronald L. Lao, commander of San Pedro Police Precinct, identified the slain suspect as Mhelvil Gabriel Aviles, 20, resident of Purok 22 in Catalunan Pequeno.

According to the report, an informant appeared at the office and tipped off the activities of the suspect.

The suspect handed over a sachet of shabu to a police agent for P1,000 money. When he was about to be arrested, the suspect reportedly drew his gun and fired at the officer prompting the others to return fire.

Recovered from his possession were a .45 caliber pistol with one magazine containing four bullets and sachets of shabu with an estimated value of P46,000.

In a separate operation, Meriam T. Aplasin, 28; Noruydin H. Berin, 21; AbdulRizal T. Jul, 22; Norkan L. Asari, 20 and Reynand I. Salidio, 19, all residents of Brgy 76-A, were arrested in a buy-bust.

S0eized from their possession were 21 sachets of shabu, four improvised tooters and drug paraphernalia.

The suspects are now detained in Sta. Ana police Precinct while a case for violation of RA 9165 or the “Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002” has been filed against them yesterday.
