Drug suspect in Mati caught with P4.5-M worth of shabu

AUTHORITIES seized P4.5 million worth of shabu from in a drug buy-bust in Mati City, Davao Oriental at 5 p.m. on Friday.

The suspect was identified as Estela S. Pormanis, 40, resident of Purok Ilang-ilang, Upper Salazar, Barangay Central in Mati City. Seized from her possession was a total of half a kilo of shabu.

The suspect was apprehended in a joint operation conducted by Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-XI in coordinationwith Eastern Mindanao Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit, Aviation Security Group, Mati City Police Station and Air Intelligence Security and Squadron of Philippine Air Force.

The suspect is now detained at Mati City Police Station detention facility, while the seized suspected illegal drugs were submitted to Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office XI Laboratory .

Cases for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the “ Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 was filed against her yesterday.

In June this year, two “big-time” drug dealers werey caught in a dragnet that yielded one kilo of shabu with an estimated street market value of P9 million.

The buy-bust, said to be the biggest in the region this year, transpired on Friday evening in Barangay Magugpo West in Tagum City.

Arrested were Ferdinand Jose Camacho, 45, resident of Villa Magsanoc, Barangay Mankilam and Oder Saipuding, 20, resident of Monay, Lanao del Norte.

According to Noli Dimaandal, spokesperson of PDEA-XI based in Davao City, the suspects have been under surveillance for being one of the biggest shabu suppliers in Southern Mindanao.

They were arrested when they handed over the item to a police agent.

Last Aug. 29, four suspects were killed while nine others arrested during simultaneous drug raids in Tagum City, Sto. Tomas and Asuncion in Davao del Norte at 4:30 a.m.

The slain suspects were identified as Abil Nasser, 39 of Asuncion; Hanron Saumay Sultan of Sto. Tomas; Reynaldo Baquiran, 38, and Marven Padua, both residents of Tagum City.

Arrested were Allan Bagnaan, 31; Erick Cabiling, 48; Rodel Cabiling, 30,all residents of Sto. Tomas, Davao del Norte; Elvis Estrada, 41; Melchona Padua, 33; Roy Apao 33; Mesael Obeso, 36; Renmarlie Durano, 18, all residents of Tagum City; and Ramlah C. Nasser,37, resident of Asuncion in Davao del Norte.
