Drug supplier killed

AN ALLEGED drug supplier was killed in a buy-bust operation conducted by agents of Sta. Ana police in Bucana, Barangay 76-A, Talomo District Thursday evening.

Chief Insp. Hamlet Lerios, the precinct commander, said Basarun B. Akil, 30, was pointed as the drug supplier by a drug pusher earlier arrested that day.

Lerios said Akil of Purok 1, Sitio Punta in the said barangay previously surrendered to the authorities during the Oplan Toktok Hangyo (TokHang) but apparently he returned to his illegal activity.

Police conducted the operation against Akil after he was pointed by suspected drug pusher Alvashier Mulato Paulino as his supplier.

Paulino was arrested by joint operatives of Sta. Ana and Calinan stations in a buy-bust operation conducted along the national highway in Purok 21, Calinan around 8:30 p.m. that day.

Immediately, police conducted the follow-up operation against Akil in Bucana.

During the operation, the suspect apparently sensed that he was having a transaction with police officers.

He drew a gun tucked at the back of his waist and about to shoot the supposed buyer.

But the undercover officer was able to fire first.

Thus the suspect fled, jumping over the window of his house.

The operatives then fired at the escaping suspect.

Police recovered from the suspect nine sachets of shabu and a .38 revolver.
