Drug pusher killed

AN ALLEGED drug pusher was killed in an alleged shootout during a police anti-illegal drug operation along the highway of Kilometer 25, Bunawan at 6:35 p.m. Monday.

Davao City Police Office (DCPO) director Sr. Supt. Alexander Tagum identified the fatality as Gilbert Caballero, in his late 20s and resident of Bunawan.

Caballero allegedly fired a gun toward the undercover agent who transacted with him.

The operatives returned fire, hitting the victim in his body. He was immediately brought to the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) for medical treatment but was declared dead upon arrival.

Police recovered a .38 caliber revolver with ammunitions in the crime scene.

Tagum said Caballero was the subject in a buy-bust operation last Aug. 26 but he managed to escape.

Caballero’s live-in partner Morina Abrea was also arrested for drugs, the DCPO chief said.

Tagum added that Caballero has a pending drug case in Carmen, Davao del Norte.

He said that they have requested the Scene of the Crime Operatives (Soco) for a paraffin test on the suspect whose body is now at the morgue of the SPMC.
