DRANHS gest first win in 2017 Escandor Cup

DANIEL R. Aguinaldo National High made its presence felt after winning the opener of the 2017 Escandor Cup Inter-Public High basketball tournament played at the Davao City Recreation Center.

DRANHS scored its first win at the expense of Jesus Soriano National High, 70-67 in a classic down-the-wire showdown on opening day.

Forward Joven Deligero led DRANHS with 18 points noting six in the crucial two minutes of play that halted a possible Jesus Soriano National High comeback.

Aside from Deligero, DRANHS also paraded its roster having Aaron Aquino, Allan Ipanag, Louie Villaflor, Jemar Pojas, Renzoe Mamac, Gabriel Casamayor, Christian Gumapac, Angelo Delara, CJ Petiluna, Kurt Brananola, Kent Dinolan, Adrian Gelbolingo, Dave Harina, Adam Mamburam, Jhessller Agustine, Nathaniel Tirol and John Rosalejos with Ronnie Berato as headcoach.

Despite is setback, Jesus Soriano took a strong start with efforts from Jowell Vergara and Lance Divinagracia as backed by the cast of Angelo Dandoy, Jay-ar Celocia, Reejay Cadayona, Jasper Linsag, Darius Hayag, Mark Nituda, Joshua Magusara, Kylle Manarog, Prince Baroman, John Respecia, Harvy Jera, Louie Aldirete, Trunks Calumpang, Sean Toloy, Nico Vido, Euri Cinco, Jonel Amparo and Nicolas Ortega with coaches Fredson Catacutan and Edwin Catoja and Ramil Ardinel.

Also present during the opening rites were officials of the SBP-XI led by Regional Commissioner Atty. Francis Calatrava.

Also seeing action in the tournament were Bernardo Carpio National High, Pablo Lorenzo National High, Cabantian National High, Enrico Nograles National High, Gov. Vicente Duterte National High, Santiago Dakudao National High, F. Bustamante National High and Crossing Bayabas National High.

The ten teams which will be bracketed into two will follow the single round bracket elimination format with the top two teams moving on to the final four semifinal round.
