DOJ okays 8 city prosecutors; still needs Duterte’s approval

JUSTICE Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre sent over the names of eight new Davao City prosecutors to President Rodrigo R. Duterte for approval.

Regional State Prosecution Office (RSPO) director Janet Grace B. Dalisay-Fabrero said that Aguirre said the applicants are either private practitioners or government workesr. However, Fabrero did not mention their names pending approval from Malacañang.

Fabrero said the new city prosecutors will help ease the current workload in the disposition of cases to achieve the zero backlog policy of the Department of Justice for all offices under the National Prosecution Service.

She added that the new appointed city prosecutors are expected to work before June.

Fabrero also assured that the new prosecutors have strong work ethic and reputation for integrity. Out of the 12 applicants, only eight were recommended.

If those eight applicants will be appointed by the president, Davao City will have 30 state prosecutors.
