TWO PERSONS were killed and seven others were wounded when unidentified perpetrators ambushed a truck boarded by high school students in Sitio Quarry, Brgy. Kimlawis, Kiblawan, Davao del Sur on Sunday night.

In a report of Kiblawan Municipal Police Station, the fatalities were identified as Jimboy Lingkanay, 16, and Nibert Malanson, age not stated.

Lingkanay died on the spot, while Malanson died at Southern Philippines Medical Center.

The Police Regional Office (PRO) XI reported that based on the initial investigation, a Sadam truck of Barangay Kimlawis fetched students of Kimlawis National High School. As the bus was its route to barangay proper, unidentified perpetrators staged the attack.

“Possible motive of the incident (was) believed to be ‘bandits rido,’” PRO XI said.

The personnel of the Philippine Army’s 73rd Infantry Battalion responded to the area and rushed the victims to Kiblawan Medical Clinic.

The Kiblawan Municipal Police Station, meanwhile, immediately probed in the site.
