DCPO reviews, tests security plan for city

The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) yesterday said that they are reviewing and reevaluating the deployment of personnel and assets as part of their enhanced security measures.

Spokesperson Sr. Insp. Ma. Theresita Gaspan, said yesterday that included in the security plan is the deployment of police officers in convergent areas.

Gaspan said the plan is the result of the case conference conducted by the DCPO on Monday following the series of bombing incidents in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat.

“We have studied how we will innovate the security measures,” she said.

She also said they have utilized office personnel to conduct patrol from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. “At least we can use our personnel inside the office to conduct patrols,” she said.

Last Friday, the Police Regional Office XI said that 175 PNP personnel will be assigned to augment the force of the DCPO to secure Davao City from terrorist attacks.

Chief Supt. Marcelo Morales, PRO XI director, ordered all units to strengthen and tighten security measures, intensify intelligence monitoring, and conduct proactive measures in coordination with their counterparts in the AFP and other law enforcement agencies.

“We are saddened about the report of another explosion since the community in Region 12 is affected. Here in the city, we have not lowered our alert level,” he added. “We are still on full alert status.”
