DCPO: 26,000 houses visited in Oplan Tokhang

THE DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) has already visited more than 26,000 houses in their Oplan Tokhang since the intensified Double Barrel Project against illegal drugs was implemented last October.

The figure is more than double the 12,000-house quota given by the Police Regional Office (PRO XI) for the DCPO to visit until Dec. 31, 2016, said DCPO spokesperson, Sr. Insp. Catherine Dela Rey.

From Oct. 26, 2016 up to yesterday, the DCPO has visited 26,559 houses and encouraged residents to give up their illegal drug trade. A total of 1,057 targets surrendered.

In the same period, the DCPO also conducted a total of 122 buy-bust operations with 183 suspects arrested. Ten suspects were “neutralized.”

Despite already passing the quota, Dela Rey said their house-to-house operation will still continue.

“The PRO XI has yet given another timeline so we continue the house visitation,” she added.

Dela Rey said the house visitation is more effective as a mean of information dissemination on the ill effects of illegal drugs.

Meanwhile, Dela Rey revealed that they are monitoring 10 newly identified high value targets on their list.

Most of the high value targets, she said, are barangay officials.
