Davao’s KZ, Myrtle in Sounds Familiar 2

THE SECOND season of ABS-CBN’s Your Face Sounds Familiar will have two artists coming from Davao and both of them were previous winners in reality shows in the same network.

On Saturday, KZ Tandingan and Myrtle Sarrosa were introduced as among the eight personalities competing in the second season of “Your Face Sounds Familiar,” an interactive reality talent show where the celebrity contestants impersonate singers.

KZ, dubbed as “The Soul Supreme” in the competition, hails for Digos City and spent her college days in Davao City where she started her singing career as part of a band called KZ and the Boys. She rose to fame after winning the first season of ABS-CBN’s The X Factor Philippines in 2012 where she won P1 million. In 2014, she also won P1 million in The Singing Bee in the same network. Last year, her interpreted song Mahal Ko O Mahal Ako also won the grand prize and the P1 million prize in Himig Handog.

KZ, in her early X Factor days, has been likened to Melai Cantiveros, a fellow Mindanaon who won the first season of Your Face Sounds Familiar and was also the grand winner of Pinoy Big Brother: Double Up in 2009.

Myrtle, tagged as the competition’s “The Playful Angel,” hails from Iloilo City but her father is from Davao City. The popular cosplayer rose to prominence after winning the Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition 4 in 2012.

KZ and Myrtle are also recording artists, both already released their self-title debut albums.

The two will compete with “The Absolute Performer” Sam Concepcion, “The Dental Diva” Kakai, “Harana Prince” Michael Pangilinan, “Komikero ng Masa” Eric Nicolas, “Rebel Rock Royalty” Kean Cipriano and “The Sultry Heiress” Denise Laurel.

Scheduled to return on Sept. 5, the hit celebrity impersonation contest will also see Gary Valenciano, Jed Madela, and Sharon Cuneta all return to the judges table.

Melai will again be part of the show — but as a co-host to Billy Crawford.
