Davao Durians bag 4th Fatboy 10s Rugby crown

THE DAVAO Durians added another title to their list of championships, this time claiming the Shield Division title of the fourth Fatboy 10s Rugby tournament played at the Clark Airbase , Angeles City Pampanga last weekend.

Its winning cast banners captain LeAllen Lara, Daryl Ross Lomosbog, Anthony Ronquillo, James Mark Sarona, Uldarico Bande Jr., Alexander Dalhog, Jan-Lawrence Olaco, Greg Doringo, Ronnel Marko Nabor, Ruel John Halasan, Raphael Carlo Mancha, Bernard Batulan, Chicco Ricamora  and playing coach Hilton Soberano and playing manager Rex Louie Pilongo.

Their road to the title involved a 19-0 mastery on the Pot Bellied Pigs RFC of Hong Kong in the semifinal round then followed it up next to their sister team HKFC Expendables, 21-7 enroute to this year’s Shield Division title.

The Davao Durians was part of the 16 team roster which involved the clubs coming from the Asia-Pacific region.

Other teams which took part are the Clark Jets Rugby Club, Albay Vulcans Rugby Club, Cebu Dragons RFC, Manila Nomads, SKF Mavericks, Manila Hapons, Valley Griffins (Hong Kong), Bush Turkeys (Australia), Valley Kangaroos (United States), Taipei Baboons (Chinese Taipei), Port Moresby Fiss Pots (Papua New Guinea), Pot Belly Lites (Hong Kong) and the SCC Growlers (Singapore).

The victorious squad would like to thank the Pot Bellied Pigs RFC Hong Kong, SOS Children’s Village Davao, the Mindanao Ruby Football Development Incorporated, Tsunami Sports and the City Government of Davao for their support.
