Davao cover bands pay tribute to idols

DAVAO cover bands will pay tribute to music greats that greatly influenced them in HiTBACK Series.

HiTBACK Series presents Samadhi Davao’s Cover Bands will rock the Soundbox BAR, located at Camus Street, at 8 o’clock tonight.

Unlike previous hitback series where performing bands just randomly picked songs from yesteryears, this episode will see four Davao bands perform songs by veteran musicians that became their inspirations.

The Kindred Spirits will do songs by American folk-singing trio Peter, Paul and Mary, an act that is a paradigm for 1960s folk music.

Expect Manny Pacaldo, Peewee Luzada and Bing Dianasas to perform songs like Puff The Magic Dragon, Blowin’ in the Wind, Lemon Tree, If I Had a Hammer, Where Have All the Flowers Gone?, The Times They Are A-Changin’ and Leaving on a Jet Plane, among others. Ruben Madarang on bass guitar and Tony Alba on drums back up.

Roboto Band will perform songs by The Scorpions, Germany’s most famous rock band that is synonymous with melodic heavy metal.

Roger Gorgonio, Doodz Rosell Jr., Rene Millevo, Joel Poya, and Ramil Ibanez will rock the stage with songs like When the Smoke Is Going Down, Always Somewhere, Holiday, Still Loving You, No One Like You, Wind of Change and Rock You Like a Hurricane.

The Holy Smoke will resound Uriah Heep, a pioneering rock band of the 1970s. So expect Bong Labao, Randy Avila, Vic Garcia, Bemz Remotin, Bobby Ravina to rock the world with songs like July Morning, Sweet Lorraine, Tears in My Eyes, Look at Yourself and Gypsy.

The Extreme Rock Band will do the 70s with the best of Pinoy Classic Rock. Nilo Vidal, Sammy Rosell, Archie Bernal Comendador and Edgar Aguilar and Batjika Ramos will rock the best of Juan de la Cruz Band, Maria Cafra, and many more.
