CULTURAL POTPOURRI| Seda Abreeza’s Jazz Fete

THE NIGHT before I was to leave for a short vacation in Manila, I made sure that I attended Seda Abreeza’s Client Appreciation Night which was part of the hotel’s 4th Anniversary celebration observed officially last April 2, 2017. Seda Abreeza’s Anniversary and Appreciation Night bash held at the T’nalak Ballroom last April 7 at 7:00 p.m. was themed “Jazz Fete,” after one of the most well-known and timeless of the world’s music genres.

Like any other special Seda Abreeza celebration, the happy event showcased good food by Exec. Chef Bang Flores; cool jazz music by Davao’s local musicians and singers; dance and fashion extravaganza by Arnold Alvarez and his SiningTala dancers; and such suave emceeing by Davao’s number one host, Joey Sy-Domingo. All these plus of course the warm Seda hospitality and friendship extended to everybody by GM Ken Kapulong and his Seda minions.

Lending their support to the special anniversary celebration were President and CEO Alex Valoria and CFO Oscar Grapa of ANFLOCOR; the executives of Ayala Hotels & Resorts Corp. led by Andrea Mastellone; Japanese Consul Tomoko Dodo; Harry from the Indonesian Consulate; among so many other distinguished guests.

“For four years now, Seda Abreeza has continued to be strong and successful—all because of you, our valued partners…We have been in the landscape of Davao for quite a while now; and everything just gets better and more exciting from here. With all the great things going on in Davao City, we bring with us our brand promise everyday: To provide you all the best feelings in the world,” said GM Ken with a smile at the start of his message. “For the past years, we have trained our associates and further upgraded their skills to be at par with global standards. Last 2016, our Sales Team became certified Hospitality Sales Professionals. This is the most prestigious certification available to all areas of Hospitality Sales to include the selling of rooms, conventions/conferences, and banquets. This only assures you that you are in great hands when you are in Seda Abreeza.”

Naturally, GM Ken didn’t forget to inform the guests that their very own Misto signature resto has been included in the Philippine Tatler’s Best Restaurants for 2017 roster. Philippine Tatler is the country’s bible for best restaurants, bars and dining news for the highly affluent and cosmopolitan citizens of this country run by a Davaoeno President known for his disdain for drugs, criminality and corruption. Seda Hotels has also been awarded as the Philippines’ Leading Hotel Group by the prestigious World Travel Awards for the third time. GM Ken also mentioned that a new member of the Family has risen— Seda Vertis in Quezon City.

For the 4th Anniversary dinner, Exec. Chef Bang Flores dished out such delicious entrees such as the roasted US rack of lamb with mint jelly; bourbon BBQ baby back ribs; slow-cooked Angus beef; deep fried Cajun shrimp with remoulade sauce; mussels bienville; and creole rice with Andouille sausage and red beans. Her desserts did not disappoint the guests— mini Reese’s chocolate peanut butter cheesecake trifle; marshmallow brownie crisp bars; chocolate explosion cookies; Nutella fudge bars; chocolate blackout doughnuts and Ferrero Rocher mousse.

The guests had a fun time with host Joey See-Domingo and the Q&A which came with Seda Abreeza prizes for each correct answer given. Oh yes, I won an overnight stay at Seda Abreeza, thank you.

Seda Abreeza, the urban lifestyle hotel, does its share in the field of environmental conservation. In Ayala’s advocacy to go green, Seda Abreeza has continued its Sanipaan Mangrove Tree Planting projects for four years now. Seda Abreeza’s employees took a trip to Barangay Tambo, Vanishing Island, Babak, Island Garden City of Samal last April 24 to plant mangroves which serve as habitat for our marine life.

Seda Abreeza also saw the turnover of two new classrooms to Lampa Lapidan Elementary School, the beneficiary of Seda Hotel’s “Hope in a Bottle Project” in partnership with the HOPE Foundation. The turnover rites was attended by no less than Seda Hotels’ executives led by Senior Group General Manager Andrea Mastellone and Seda Abreeza GM Ken Kapulong.

“Seda Abreeza has marked itself as one of the fast-growing businesses in the hospitality industry; and has managed to put itself in a very good position in the market. I must say this is primarily because of the solid efforts exerted by the team behind it…May we continue to give everyone the impeccable service each and every client deserves every time they stay at Seda Abreeza,” said GM Ken Kapulong as he recognized the hotel’s department heads and their respective hardworking teams.

“As we begin another year, we are motivated and inspired to be of service to all of you. This is our heart-felt way to express our humblest thanks for trusting us and for consistently supporting us,” GM Ken impressed on the guests with sincerity.

Congratulations, Seda Abreeza. Congratulations, GM Ken Kapulong and the Seda Abreeza team for a job very well done.
