CULTURAL POTPOURRI| Raymond Gutierrez and Nico Bolzico for Philam Life’s #LiveBetter Campaign

IT WAS a surprise call I got from Liloh Evangelista last week. The woman whom I haven’t seen for years suddenly resurrects as some sort of an event planner for Philam Life’s #LiveBetter Expo held at the SM Lanang Premier last October 7, 2017. “You will love it as it is Philam Life’s Live Better Campaign for a healthy and active lifestyle for the Millennials,” she said trying hard to convince me. Through this event, Philam Life hopes to empower Filipinos to start living better. The big mama also reasoned out that she decided to come out in hiding after “the end of the world” prophecy didn’t happen after all. I am sure Jasper Huang would be happy to know this as he has been looking for Liloh as well.

“Philam Life which turns 70 years old this year has turned its focus on young people to help it in its drive for more businesses; and to regain its footing in the industry. The company is wholly owned by the Hong Kong-based AIA Group. Philam Life is now getting into the health craze with its new lifestyle campaign, #LiveBetter, with the purpose of raising awareness on the importance of life insurance, “ Abbie Remo, the head of Corporate Communications & Public Relations told me during an interview with lunch at the Selera.

“Life insurance is always associated with accidents or even when death is about to happen. That’s one of the reasons why people don’t want to talk about it. But when it comes to health issues, people will always want to talk about getting well. With the younger generation of Filipinos, they are more aware and conscious about getting fit, living longer and maintaining an active, healthier and holistic lifestyle,” Abbie pointed out.

“The #LiveBetter campaign which was launched earlier this year is a campaign that signifies the change that is taking place in the overall strategy of Philam Life. At the core of #LiveBetter is Philam Life Vitality, a wellness program that helps Filipinos live better by letting them take charge of their overall health, their mind, body as well as their financial wellness. In the long term, it seeks to help Filipinos live life to the fullest by helping them take charge of their overall wellness,” Abbie explained.

At the #LiveBetter Expo hosted by Davao’s number one host, Joey Sy-Domingo, who came attired in a red-and-white exercise outfit, the host toured the guests around the vicinity which had the Fitness, Wellness, Food and Financial Health booths. “We have enlisted celebrity brand ambassadors to help us at Philam Life get our message across. That’s why we’ve invited showbiz Raymond Gutierrez and down-to-earth Nico Bolzico among our brand ambassadors to appeal to you today,” Joey told the excited audience. It seemed it was Nico Bolzico who was smitten by Joey’s beauty, charm and wit. Philam Life’s mission to #LiveBetter has brand ambassadors Solenn Heussaff for Food, Nico Bolzico for Finance, Wil Dasovich for Fitness, and Raymond Gutierrez for Wellness.

Raymond Gutierrez used to be classified as obese until he decided to go through an experiential journey for health and fitness to make himself and his family happy. “ I could never be happier when Philam Life got me as one of its brand ambassadors. It is so timely as I want to inspire young people to get into a healthy lifestyle like I did myself. I started exercising in December, 2016, and I’ve lost 65 lbs. since then. It is a change of lifestyle. I don’t eat pork and beef, no alcoholic drinks, and no carbs except for the occasional camote. It’s an entire change of lifestyle for me. A much healthier one. Knowing what you want is important; and set your mind on it and you just go do it,” Raymond revealed adding that he doesn’t have a love life at all after all these. Believe it or not.

Nico Bolzico explained that he grew up in a farm in Argentina and always led a healthy lifestyle. What he got used to eating was unprocessed food and the healthy vegetables and beef provided for him in the farm. The athletic guy is into running which helps a lot when he’s in the farm running after cows which provide his business with among the best beef in the world which he exports from Argentina to other countries like the Philippines. “I have stayed in the Philippines for six years now and I love it. It is Mindanao which is the future of the Philippines. My company has a plantation in Bukidnon where we grow Napier Grass for cow feeds which I visit regularly. We also have a shrimp farm in GenSan. In Cebu, we operate an animal protein processing plant,” Nico informed me adding, “But you need exercise to help maintain yourself with all the hard work that you do. I am into football and cardio exercises like running with my wife, the beautiful and talented actress named Solenn Heussaff who also cooks healthy food for me.”
