CULTURAL POTPOURRI| Celebrating Mother’s Day @ Seda Abreeza

CARE of the family and the home have been seen as women’s preordained, biologically appropriate tasks in all historical eras.  But women have amazingly labored at other chores and assumed other responsibilities as well to generate that much needed income for their families.  Planting and reaping, weaving and sewing, cleaning others’ homes, raising others’ children, working in factories or offices, women’s labor has made the continuance of their families possible and bearable.  This multi-tasking roles of caring for a family and home and earning additional income have characterized the lives of most Filipinas and differentiated them from men.  It is women, not men, who have these multiple responsibilities and must find work compatible with these duties or arrange for substitutes to care for their own children and their household while they earn incomes either here in the country or somewhere else in the world.

Filipinas of today consistently work to give value to their lives.  Many take pleasure and pride in their reproductive and nurturing role, in their tasks, in sustaining the generations with their labor.  Many give beauty, value, and power to their lives despite and in spite of the complexities of life in this male-dominated, feudal society in a third world setting run by corrupt, incompetent, and narcissistic traditional politicians we righteously refer to as Trapos.

“May 8 is a ‘MOMentous’ occasion at Seda Abreeza.  It is that single day in the year we pay we recognize and pay special tribute to our hardworking and self-sacrificing mothers.  Give your mom a ‘Me-Mom-rable’ day to celebrate Mother’s Day by gifting her with a relaxing staycation at Seda Abreeza plus a gastronomic lunch buffet to go with it,” urged Seda Abreeza’s GM Ken V. Kapulong last April 27, 2016, when the hotel invited Davao’s lifestyle writers for a preview of its Mother’s Day delightful treats.

Communications Officer Ariesha Faith Dimaano had a big smile on her face when she reminded everyone that Mother’s Day is just around the corner.  “Seda Abreeza has prepared delightful treats for moms and the rest of the family to enjoy.  This urban lifestyle hotel aims to give only the very best Mother’s Day stay and dining experience on this special occasion.  Families may go for a staycation in style and comfort with Seda Abreeza’s room package promos from May 7 to May 9.  Mom and the entire family will surely enjoy an overnight accommodation in a Deluxe Room with complimentary breakfast.  This also includes complimentary WiFi service, use of the hotel gym and pool, and a complimentary Spa Gift Certificate for the mom,” detailed Faith.

The special Mother’s Day lunch buffet preview prepared by sous chef cum mommy dearest Giovanna “Bang” Flores and her talented kitchen staff highlighted the hotel’s specialties which are truly family affair culinary delights.  How can you go wrong with such dishes as juicy and tender slices of Angus roast beef, boneless lechon with crispy skin, various pasta dishes, chicken in Thai peanut sauce, Chipotle lemon grilled Tangigue, Mongolian pork, saffron rice, among others.  Believe me, but chef Bang’s desserts are  the worst nightmare for diabetics and the figure-conscious!  How can you resist the temptation of the heavenly sight of mango sansrival, lemon meringue eclairs, caramel chocolate trifle, angel cake with rose frosting, cinnamon roll coffee cake, apple pie, lemon layer cake with blueberry butter cream, strawberry crinkle cookies, Mother’s Day themed cakes, plus an assortment of cupcakes and cookies.  The desserts were so beautifully presented.  Not to fail to mention the lovely table arrangement of the talented F&B Manager Oliver Evangelista who earned such an experience while working at the exclusive Manila Polo Club.

Please don’t forget to celebrate Mother’s Day especially for those who still have their mothers with them.  You don’t know how lucky and loved you are having someone look after you.
