CTTMO: No traffic congestion along diversion road this time

The City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) said they recorded no heavy traffic congestion following the recent temporary partial road closure of the diversion road in Laverna Hills, Buhangin District.

It can be recalled that during the Talomo bridge trial closure last June 20 to 22, motorists and passengers complained about the traffic build-up. Most motorists were not prepared for the heavy traffic despite earlier announcements and signages.

However, CTTMO chief Dionisio Abude announced on Thursday during the iSpeak forum at City Hall that the repair of the flood control and drainage system won’t affect the commuters as much after they implemented preemptive measures to ensure the smooth flow of traffic.

“It won’t happen again because the alternate routes this time are not under construction,” said Abude. “Alternate routes like JP Laurel, R. Castillo and Dacudao are passable despite the ongoing drainage repair of one lane in Cabaguio area,” he added.

The CTTMO also assigned 16 personnel who will be on duty for 24 hours to manage the traffic in that area. Traffic advisory can also be found in specific areas such as in Panacan, Angliongto, Buhangin and Bangkal to guide motorists. (Regina Mae Ronquillo)
