Cops to tighten watch at Wireless Cemetery

THE DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) will impose a tighten security measure at the Wireless Cemetery where the tombs of Pres. Rodrigo Duterte’s parents are located.

DCPO spokesperson Sr. Insp. Catherine Dela Rey said they will be deploying more police personnel in the said cemetery to ensure the safety in the area.

Dela Rey yesterday told reporters that they don’t have schedule yet on the president’s visit at the burial grounds of his father, former Gov. Vicente Duterte, and mother Soledad.

“We have security plan if ever President Duterte will visit the cemetery,” Dela Rey said. “If the Presidential Security Group (PSG) needs additional personnel, we are ready for that.”

“More police force will be sent in the area because it is one of the big cemeteries in the city,” Dela Rey added.

The Wireless Cemetery, also known as the Roman Catholic Cemetery and the Davao Public Cemetery, is located in Barangay 8-A where two other private cemeteries – Forest Lake and San Pedro Memorial Park are also located.

The DCPO is assigning some 2,600 police personnel and force multipliers to the fields starting Oct. 30 until Nov. 3.

Dela Rey said that 90 percent of the police force from the headquarters and the police personnel from the 12 precincts will be assigned to secure the 34 cemeteries in the city.

Most of the police officers will be assigned to the major cemeteries, such as the Wireless, Maa, Davao Memorial and Mintal.
