Cop nabbed for gun firing

A MEMBER of the Mobile Patrol Group (MPG) of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) was arrested by Sta. Ana police officers after he allegedly discharged illegally his firearm in a heated argument with a tricycle driver along Generoso Street, Obrero on Saturday dawn.

Sr. Insp. Catherine Dela Rey, DCPO spokesperson, identified the suspect as PO2 Bernard Solon.

The complainant, a tricycle driver, was identified as Johnny Defrante Abolencia, 64, an Obrero resident.

According to the report, Solon was driving a Toyota Vios, with plate number LGY 862, and bumped into Abolencia’s tricycle at 4:20 a.m.

A heated argument ensued.

Solon reportedly drew his service firearm and fired it twice.

Abolencia immediately reported it to the Sta. Ana police.

Upon arrival at the area, Sta. Ana police personnel,

onboard Mobile 60, immediately confiscated from Solon the police-issued Glock 17 Gen4, bearing serial number PNP 18946, with one magazine containing 11 live ammunitions.

They also recovered two empty shells.

Police then brought the two to the precinct for recording.

However, Abolencia initially signified that he’s no longer interested in filing a case against Solon.

Solon was still detained as the Sta. Ana Police are still waiting for Abolencia to change his decision.

But even the criminal case will not pursue, an administrative case will be pursued by the Regional Internal Affairs Service (RIAS).
