Coordinating team created for juvenile intervention program

MAYOR Sara Duterte-Carpio issued an executive order creating the local project management team to take charge in the formulation of the Comprehensive Local Juvenile Intervention Program (CLJIP) of Davao City.

Dated May 22, the EO said that local government units (LGUs) including Davao City are mandated under Republic Act 9344 to formulate a comprehensive juvenile intervention programto be instituted from barangay to the city level.

 “Memorandum Circular No. 2016-68 of the Department of Interior and Local Government enjoins all local chief executives to utilize the guidelines for the local government units on the development of the Comprehensive Local Juvenile Intervention Program,” the EO read.

The program will be composed of heads from the Liga ng mga Barangay, City Social Services and Development Office (lead agency), City Planning and Development Office, City Budget Office, and Sangguniang Panglungsod committee on women, children and family.

The team would also include the heads from the Davao City Police Office, Department of Interior and Local Government, City Local Government Operation Office, Council for the Welfare of Children, Department of Education and the City Health Office.

The mayor will also be appointing personnel from non -government organization and faith-based organization to be part of the team.

The teamwill spearhead the efforts of the city to attain the objectives of the CLJIP, and will lead and direct the conduct of social preparation activities such as data gathering, planning, process and establishment of the juvenile information and referral system.

The team will also initiate and refine program planning, designing, implementation, and oversee local monitoring and evaluation scheme with the technical assistance and supervision of the national technical working group on capacity-building and submit annual reports to DILG central office.

The budget allocation for the CLJIP will be sourced from the 1% internal revenue allotment  allocated for the strengthening and implementation of the programs of the Local Council for the Protection of Children for Children-at-Risk and Children in Conflict with the Law.
