Considered approved

Dela Rosa vows to add 1,700 more cops to city
POLICE Director General Ronald Dela Rosa promised to approve the request for an additional 1,700 police officers for the Davao City Police Office (DCPO).

“I am sure to approve the request if it reaches my office,” dela Rosa told reporters in an interview during the turnover and blessing of the newly acquired vehicles for the Police Regional Office (PRO) XI at Camp Quintin Merecido in Buhangin.

He will immediately endorse the request to the National Police Commission (Napolcom) for its final approval.

The DCPO currently has a regular force of 1,850 and 900 police auxiliaries.

Davao City Police Office (DCPO) director Alexander Tagum made the request for additional forces with the concurrence of Mayor Sara Duterte.
Tagum also requested for the expansion of DCPO, with the construction of additional stations in the city, particularly in the busy and populated areas in Poblacion (covered by San Pedro Police Precinct), Agdao (covered by Sta. Ana Police Precinct), Talomo and Buhangin.

“This is actually the very right time to propose for the DCPO expansion considering the present significance of the city in the national level being the hometown of the President and it’s hosting the Malacanang in the South,” Tagum said.

“Included in the consideration, of course, is the expected rapid growth of our city in terms of population and development with the build, build, build program of our President and the local migration to the city,” Tagum said. “Our city is now considered as Mindanao’s economic and political center.”
