ComVal governor congratulates soldiers for winning DA contest

MAWAB, Compostela Valley – The province of Compostela Valley extended their deepest appreciation to the 71st Infantry (Kaibigan) Battalion after winning the “Gulayan sa Kampo” contest during the provincial convocation at capitol grounds, Barangay Cabidianan, Nabunturan on Dec. 18, 2017.

The “Gulayan sa Kampo” contest was initiated by the DA XI where line battalions participated to help promote organic farming in the camp, address malnutrition, and produce healthy foods on the table. It will serve as pilot garden that aims to encourage neighboring community to replicate at their residence.

The unit was awarded a plaque and a certificate being adjudged as the number one among eight line battalion contenders during the awarding ceremony at Grand Men Seng hotel, last Dec. 13, 2017.

Governor Jayvee Tyron L. Uy lauded the heroism of the Philippine Army and its leadership having more accomplishment gearing toward reaching just and lasting peace in the province.

“The Compostela Valley province is open to provide immediate assistance to the programs and projects of the government security forces,” Uy said.

According to Lt. Col. Esteveyn E. Ducusin, the commanding officer of 71st IB, thanked the governor for recognizing the unit’s effort in insurgency, as well as government programs that requires the soldiers’ participation.
