City police collar murder suspects

CITY police officers arrested four murder fugitives, including one from Malita town in Davao Occidental, over the weekend.

The fugitive from Davao Occidental is the ninth most wanted person in Malita, the provincial capital of the new Davao province.

Murder suspect Sammy Bernabe, 38, a resident of Barangay Talogoy in Malita, was arrested on Sunday by joint operatives in Purok Tabua, Brgy Wines, Baguio District, where he was hiding, said Sr.  Supt.  Alexander Tagum, Davao City Police Office (DCPO) director.

According to the report, Baguio police officers, under station commander Sr. Insp. Merlito Tubog, together with the Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB) and the Malita Municipal Police Station, led by its chief Supt. Dave Antonio Mejia, conducted the operation around 10 p.m. on Sunday.

Police officers were armed with a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Magnolia Cayetano of Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 20 in Digos City, Davao Del Sur.

On Saturday night, Bunawan police operatives arrested two other murder suspects.

Arrested were Core Enree Sayman Perez, 28, married, and resident of Purok 10-A, Tibungco, and Rodante Alejano Gamoyao, 44, married, and resident of Purok 37, in Ilang. Both were arrested at 8 p.m. on Saturday in separate operations.

Police were armed with an arrest order issued by Judge Melinda Dayanghirang of RTC Branch 54 in this city in arresting Perez in Purok 11-A of Tibungco.

In arresting Gamoyaw, police were armed with arrest order issued by Judge Lope Calio of RTC, Brach 33 in this city.

Meanwhile, Toril police operatives arrested a 40-year-old murder suspect during a hot pursuit operation in Purok 2, Sitio Cotson, Barangay Biao Guinga, Tugbok District.

Suspect was identified as Glenn Basalan Alonzo, aka Doro, married, self-employed, and resident of the said place.

He was personally pinpointed by a witness as the one who stabbed to death a neighbor, name not stated.
