City council’s endorsement sought for township project

PROPERTY developer Megaworld Corp. is seeking an endorsement from the city council for its township development in Dakudao, Lanang.

Angelo E. Natividad, senior manager of the company, said in his letter addressed to the city council last month that they hope to obtain the endorsement of the city council as this is among the among the requirements for Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) accreditation.

The company is applying to make the project a PEZA-zone specifically as an Information Technology Park.

“Megaworld Corp. is one with the city of Davao in its thrust to promote and help the business process industry to grow and scale even greater heights in the city,” Natividad said.

Megaworld’s request was approved for first reading on Tuesday and was referred to city council’s majority floor leader, Councilor Bernard E. Al-ag. The company already gained endorsement from the Davao City Investment Promotion Center.

The company’s township development in the city is situated in an 11-hectare property in Lanang, which includes two 15-storey mixed-use buildings and a five-star hotel. It has also the 12-storey Lanang Premier Doctors Hospital as among the locators within the development.

The company is investing P15 billion for the establishment of the township development.

“Megaworld Corp. is honored to be in partnership with the city of Davao in its vision to becoming the premier location for BPO firms in Mindanao. This partnership will benefit the Davaoeños through job generation and the continuous growth of local businesses/commercial and retail activities,” Natividad said.
